Big cages
General information
- About big cages
-
In Second Life, there is no real way to lock a person in a cage. You can always escape, by teleporting, by 'sitting' on something outside the cage, by 'sitting' on a new object and dragging it outside, or by logging off.
If a person who is locked in one of my big cages escapes, an alarm sounds and an IM is sent to each warden. This adds consequences to the act of escaping, and is about the best we can do to make a prisoner really feel locked up.
See some pictures [here].
- Installation
- If you have just bought a cage, it should be found in your Objects folder with a name like 8C_cage. Find it (search for the letters 8C_), rez it into the world, and move it around until it's standing where you want it.
- Who can open and close the door?
- Anybody whose name is on the warden's list
- How to add a name to, or drop a name from, the Warden's list
-
Note: by default, the owner is on the warden's list when you first rez the cage.
- Right click on the cage, and select 'Edit' from the pie menu
- If there is a blue button on the edit window that says 'More', click on that.
- Select the 'Content' tab.
- Double click on the notecard called 'Wardens'.
- Insert names of wardens, one per line, exactly as spelled, including lower case letters where they appear in the name.
- To make the owner, a warden, either put put the owner's name on the Wardens list, or put the word "Owner" in the list.
- Obviously, to remove a warden, remove the warden's name from the list. To remove the owner from the warden's list, remove the owner's name AND remove the word 'Owner' if it appears on the list.
- Animation?
- The floor contains one animation. Right click the cage, and touch "Sleep" on the pie menu to activate it.
- How to open and close the door?
- Just touch it. It will swing open if it is closed, or swing closed if it is open.
- Modifications
-
You can easily paste a new texture on any prim of the cage. Just remember if you do this, the old one is gone, and you will have to contact me to get a replacement.
I don't recommend you try to resize the prims of the cage unless you are an experienced builder.
If you are an experienced builder: the root prim is the top prim (the ceiling) of the cage, and the cage won't work properly if you relink it differently. (If you don't understand this sentence, you're not an experienced enough builder.)
